Scholarships for Indian Students in Australia

Notes for Completing Application for Entrance Permission under Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation)
Those who passed the primary screening for the MEXT (Embassy Recommendation) Scholarship and wish to enroll at the Graduate School of International Development (GSID), Nagoya University, must apply according to the directions given below. Please note that GSID initially permits applicants to enroll as research students, not to enter the Master’s or the Doctoral course at the time of enrollment.
1. Conditions for Application
Applicants must have passed the primary screening of the scholarship for academic year 2013 at a Japanese embassy.

 

2. Documents to Be Submitted
(1) Application form (use the attached form) (PDF 91KB)
(2) Passing Certificate of the Primary Screening, issued by a Japanese embassy or consulate
(3) Certificate of language ability (such as TOEFL, TOEIC, Japanese Proficiency Test etc.)
(4) Curriculum Vitae (substitutable with a photocopy of “Application for Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship” that you submitted to a Japanese Embassy)
(5) Research Proposal (substitutable with a photocopy of “Field of Study and Study Program” that you submitted to a Japanese Embassy)
(6) Certificate of Graduation (substitutable with a photocopy of graduation certificate that you submitted to a Japanese Embassy)
(7) Certificate of academic record (substitutable with a photocopy of academic transcript that you submitted to a Japanese Embassy)
(8) Letter of recommendation (substitutable with a photocopy of “Recommendation” that you submitted to a Japanese Embassy)
(9) Health Certificate (Not essential, but submit if possible. Photocopies are accepted.)(substitutable with a photocopy of “Medical Certificate” that you submitted to a Japanese Embassy)
(10) Summary of Master’s Thesis, if you wish to proceed to the Doctoral Program
NB: You must attach translations of documents if they are not in either Japanese or English.

 

3. Review Process
Applications which arrive before the deadline will be reviewed immediately. Results will be sent to applicants by post once the review process has been completed. Successful applicants will receive the “Certificate of Entrance Permission” to enroll as a research student.

 

4. Submission Deadline
Applications must arrive at GSID by Friday, August 31, 2012.

 

5. Methods of Submission and Address
You can submit either by e-mail or by post.

(Please write exactly as above and do not use any abbreviation.)*Directions for submission
a) If you apply by e-mail, please scan all necessary documents, convert them to PDF files and attach those files to your e-mail by writing “MEXT Scholarship Application” in the subject field.
b) You must use registered mail such as EMS, if you choose postal submission.
c) Please write “Application for MEXT Scholarship” on the front of the envelope, if you choose postal submission.
d) The applicant must submit the application package in person, if bringing it directly to GSID. (Friends or relatives must not submit the application on behalf of the applicant.)
e) Please note carefully the deadline for submission of the “Certificate of Entrance Permission” set by the embassy.

 

6. Miscellaneous
(1) Documents received after the submission deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances.
(2) Documents submitted cannot be returned to the applicant under any circumstances.
(3) Successful applicants should submit the “Certificate of Entrance Permission” to the embassy or consulate and follow further instructions. Note that the “Certificate of Entrance Permission” issued by GSID does not guarantee acceptance as a MEXT scholar.
(4) Please refer to the GSID homepage for details of courses and faculty members.
(5) GSID will not answer enquiries about the review process.
(6) Documents and information submitted in the application will not be used for any other purpose.
(7) It is not necessary to obtain prior approval from a professor whom you wish to be your supervisor at GSID.
